On-going Advanced Art Therapy Group

This weekly art therapy group meets in person on Friday mornings from 10:30am – 12:30pm at StoveWorks.

For Individuals in Third Stage Recovery – after people have done therapy, done their work, addressed their addictions and are living in some state of self awareness or curiosity about Self. This group brings out my woowoo hippie streak and teaching the Spiritual Principles. Swimming deep in the metaphor of Jungian thought and symbolism to explore, illustrate, heal, transform and align through art and art making. Art directives include things like energy signatures and finding your own in loose oil pastel drawings, painting debriefs after guided visualizations, using oracles and other transpersonal, metaphysical, transformative work. We talk about vibes and chakras and energy. Cool group. Teens and adults. Wide variety of art materials and assignments. Joining this group requires an intake interview with Jas.

TIME: 10:30 am until 12:30 pm
PLACE: StoveWorks, 1250 E 13th Street,
Chattanooga, TN. 37408
COST: $50/group includes all materials, coffee, tea
TO REGISTER: call (423)322-2514 or email [email protected]

Tuesday evening ZOOM GROUP 5:30-7pm

Oil Clay sculptures illustrating clients’ visualized chakra systems.

INTRODUCTION TO ART THERAPY combines didactic teaching and art making in your own studio/comfort zone – facilitated by a registered, board certified art therapist. Here’s how it works…I will mail you materials and a materials list. This is a psychoeducational lifeskills art therapy group. I will be teaching, not art/art skills but LIFE SKILLS through art and art making. I am talking about teaching healthy boundaries with drawing assignments and family dynamics through clay sculptures. Teaching feelings processing and emotional regulation through painting and visualization. Using art to illustrate defenses, codependent tendencies, healthy communication and triggers. Relationships! Self Care; Self Awareness: Self Expression. Through art! on a practical, skills level. For teens and adults.

The coming 8 week series is INTRODUCTION TO CHAKRAS

Jas and chakras

During this 8 week series Jas Milam, artist and art therapist, will introduce a Westerners Guide to Chakras – the “invisible” energy centers as visualized by artists. Participants will use a variety of media and materials to look at their overall chakra system as well as a study of each individual chakras and how it impacts the system as a whole. (I will send you oil clay and circles.) Have drawing, painting and collage materials on hand. Each group will include a check in, a powerpoint presentation/education, examples, guided meditation and plenty of art making response time. There will be an opportunity to share/process for those that wish to.

You do not need talent or training to participate. Please email me at [email protected] or call me (423)322-2514 if you are interested in joining this group. Group caps at 6.

Teens and adults. $50/group
Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7pm.

New 8 week session starts May 5th – June 23rd, 2026. The topic for this 8 weeks is CHAKRAS. Please commit to the whole series.

I am presenting this group on an extra secure Zoom account. Please make sure you have privacy for our entire group time. You will photograph the artwork you create during group, send it to Jas and she will share in the group format for processing. Group members who wish to do deeper processing work will receive a discounted $100 individual session as needed.

MONDAY AFTERNOON: TAROT Study group – TAROT STUDY GROUP – The Major Arcana

Join us over Zoom as we color the Major Arcana from the classic Tarot… all 22 cards starting with The Fool and ending with The World. We will use watercolor pencils to study the symbolism, colors and traditional meaning of one card per week. You do not need any experience with art or the tarot to gain an appreciation for the metaphor and life lessons illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith in the Rider Waite deck. This group will meet on Zoom Mondays from 2:30-4pm. There is a one-time supply fee of $100(includes oversized cards to color, a set of Staedtler watercolor pencils and a guidebook) and a weekly fee of $35. This is not designed as a time for therapy or readings – it is for students of the art and symbolism that is deeply embedded in cultures worldwide. Email [email protected] if you wish to participate so there will be enough materials available.
