Research suggests that trauma – unexpressed – is stored in the body. The feelings we repress or store then express themselves through disease – physical, mental, emotional and even genetic. Wall Work is an evidence-based art therapy approach to releasing some of that clogged up stuff. Combining movement with drawing and painting in a certain way (a protocol designed by Cathy Malchiodi, PhD) allows clients to access and express feelings in a safe place and safe way in the presence of a trained professional. Clients are then walked through the de-escalation process using a variety of art materials as they practice having strong feelings and learning to regulate them.
These sessions are 90 mins and cost $200.
