Individual Sessions

Jas Milam, ATR/BC

…If you have tried talk therapy and want to try something else…if you are artistically inclined and looking for an outlet of creative expression…if you’re too left-brained to encounter your deeper Self…If you have a kid who’s not talking about it…if you’re in recovery or need a counselor …if you’re looking for a Daily Practice other than yoga or meditation… If you’re an artist who is “stuck”…I am available! for individual appointments with children, teens, adults and couples. This is a great alternative way to get in touch with and heal from painful childhoods, toxic relationships, addictions and dysfunctional patterns. Sessions can happen in person or on Zoom where we may work on family of origin work, inner child work, archetype work, chakra work, trauma release, grief work, relationship work and more! Set up an interview and assessment to see if art therapy is for you!
NO EXPERIENCE OR TALENT REQUIRED.

COST:

Because I do not take insurance (and don’t plan to) I keep my prices competitive. These prices go into effect March 1, 2025.

1 hour session: $135 (fee includes student-grade materials). Please note that for my well being and that of my clients I limit my practice to 3 or 4 sessions a day. This is to provide you with quality care in a way that is sustainable for me. I love this work 🙂 Scholarship price of $100 available to those who qualify.

Tuesday evening ZOOM GROUP coming Tuesday July 1st

Client-made set of Russian nesting dolls – archetypes she embodies include the Story teller, the puffin/Ugly ducking, and the little Nhapsha that could. Using acrylic paints on wood dolls.

ARCHETYPE WORK THROUGH PAiNTING A SET OF RUSSIAN NESTING DOLLS – 8 week session

Carl Jung talks about the idea of archetypes – ideas bigger than the personal level, bigger than stereotypes; huge energies that make up the collective unconscious. Come explore some of yours through this fun art making series while painting a set of Matryoshka dolls at home.

I will mail you art materials you need before the first group. Each week will start with a check-in, a powerpoint presentation and demonstration, art making at your home studio and online sharing. Each Tuesday I will discuss and illustrate the archetypal theme of the day. We all have an inner child, for instance. What does “she” look like ? What parts of her do you want to retain? Do you have a saboteur? a victim? an artist? How about dark sides? Do you know your shadows? Let’s take a look at the archetypes in play in our lives by painting them and see them all together as parts of a Whole Self. I whole heartedly recommend you get a copy of Sacred Contracts by Caroline Myss. I will refer to it but it is not required reading.

This 8 week series will be followed by another 8 week series (September/October) with a new theme and art therapy projects. Stay tuned. This group is limited to 6 participants.

You do not need talent or training to participate. Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in joining this newly forming group. The emphasis is on healthy relationships with self and other through art and art making.

Teens and adults. $50/group

Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7pm est over Zoom

FRIDAY MORNING: On-going art therapy group

This weekly art therapy group meets Friday mornings from 10am – 12:30pm.

For Individuals in Third Stage Recovery – after people have done therapy, done their work, addressed their addictions and are living in some state of self awareness or curiosity about Self. This group brings out my woowoo hippie streak and teaching the Spiritual Principles. Swimming deep in the metaphor of Jungian thought and symbolism to explore, illustrate, heal, transform and align through art and art making. Art directives include things like energy signatures and finding your own in loose oil pastel drawings, painting debriefs after guided visualizations, using oracles and other transpersonal, metaphysical, transformative work. We talk about vibes and chakras and energy. Cool group. Teens and adults. Wide variety of art materials and assignments. Joining this group requires an intake interview with Jas.

PLACE: Daily Practice,
1322 Dodds Avenue, near McCallie School Chattanooga, TN.                         37404

MONDAY AFTERNOON: TAROT Study group –

TAROT STUDY GROUP – The Major Arcana

Join us as we color the Major Arcana from the classic Tarot… all 22 cards starting with The Fool and ending with The World. We will use watercolor pencils to study the symbolism, colors and traditional meaning of one card per week. You do not need any experience with art or the tarot to gain an appreciation for the metaphor and life lessons illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith in the Rider Waite deck. This group will meet on Mondays from 2:30-3:30 pm. There is a one-time supply fee of $75 (includes oversized cards to color, a set of Staedtler watercolor pencils and a guidebook) and a weekly fee of $20. This is not designed as a time for therapy or readings – it is for students of the art and symbolism that is deeply embedded in cultures worldwide. Email [email protected] if you wish to participate so there will be enough materials available.
