The Way I See It

October 2, 2012 by jas milam

The Bridge  oil pastel on folded, colored paper  by “K”

“K” completed this three-part assignment called “The Bridge” as part of an inventory and visualization project at Friday morning art therapy group. On a piece of paper folded into three sections she drew “where you are right now” (left side of page), “where you want to be a year from now” (right hand side of the page) and finally “the bridge” (center) how you plan to get from here to there.

Her response drawing is an articulate picture of her divorcing family – from brokenhearted chaos, money problems and domestic disruption to happy, at peace and well balanced. “K” envisions herself; surrounded by her two daughters, walking through the year together while receiving everything they need in the way of support.

Visualization is a powerful process that engages all the senses, awakens the third eye and supports manifestation. You have heard of mantras – phrases or words repeated over and over to assist in meditation. Esoterics make use of Yantras, meditative images to assist in visualization. Holding a positive image in the mind’s eye can be healing and transformative. How can you get there if you don’t have any idea where you’re going?
